My son has been with Excel a couple of years now. First starting in the little heroes and now in the beginner classes and he absolutely loves everything about Excel!! We've experienced his challenging behaviours decrease significantly. If he starts to slip with struggles at home the coaches at Excel are excellent at working together to address them. We've also had my son's birthday party at Excel and attended a couple friends parties there. The parties are awesome, all parents need to bring is the cake! It's so well organized and a blast for the kids! Can't say enough about how fantastic everyone at Excel is!

My children are both enrolled, we absolutely love the program, all the staff are very clearly passionate about what they do and ensuring the best for the kids they teach.
My only suggestions are that I wish they had a bigger space especially at the front entrance it can get very difficult coming and going in the colder months. I sincerely hope Excel continues to expand all over BC in the coming months and years as everyone should benefit from their program and it would make the competitions that much more fun! The self defense model combined with traditional martial arts is life skills in my opinion.

We’ve been with EMA Mission since the day the Janzen family opened this chapter. My son started when he was 5 years old with the before and after school care program. He’s now 14, 2nd Degree Black Belt and an assistant instructor. My 9 year old daughter has also been going here since she was 5…no hesitation when it came time to enrol her in Day Care :)

Mr. Baban and the rest of the instructors are very supportive! They keep it fun and upbeat but still stressing important factors such as respect, self defence, the consequences of their actions….great life building skills!

It has been amazing to watch my kids grow, not only in their confidence and strength but also in the friendships they’ve built along the way. EMA is not just a business, they are a family!! I am so happy with EMA and recommend them 100%!!

They work with the parents to in-still respect and help with any issues that might come up with your kids, like listening or “hand to yourself” and they do it in a fun way. Excel Martial Arts is such a great place for kids. My son has a very hard time focusing at times and I noticed he was often in LaLa land when in class. I reached out to Steven with my concern and told him I didn't think it was the right class for my son. He then suggested I bring my Son in so he could have 1 on 1 time with him.
That 1 on 1 helped my son so much and helped Jumpstart his interest. So very appreciative of all the teachers/coaches and older kids who help boost these kids' confidence. A great upbeat environment for sure.

Excel Martial Arts is amazing!!! The instructors are fantastic with kids of all ages. They not only show the skills of 5 different Martial Arts but they also work with team building, discipline and increasing confidence. They make it fun, but keep it serious when it needs to be. There weapons programs are great with safety as their first priority. They offer extra programs too, movie nights, women’s self defense and more. My son loves it, can’t wait to further himself in the leadership program and is eager to continue with one day becoming an instructor. When I think of Martial Arts, I only think of Excel Martial Art.

I highly recommend training with EXCEL Martial Arts. My daughter has gained confidence, learned self defence, made friendships outside of school and is really demonstrating her motivation and drive to progress to higher levels in this sport. My daughter has been in Excel Martial Arts for 10 years and this was the best decision I have ever made! I was originally looking for daycare for her and then we found Excel. They were great as they dropped off and picked up the kids from school. My daughter was a timid little girl, so with martial arts being incorporated with the daycare it was great! Over the years I watched her excel into a strong and nolonger timid girl. First she became a leader, then an instructor and now is the head instructor. Along the way they treated us with nothing but kindness and respect. I can't say enough great things about Excel Martial Arts!

We enrolled our son September 2023 and we're so happy we did! He is the shy-quiet type and my husband and I have already noticed a drastic improvement in his confidence. We have been so impressed with the instructors at EMA; from the professional way that they teach the kids, to the way that they meet each kid's needs in a meaningful way. Miss Cordeiro has been a regular instructor of our son's beginner classes and she is especially great! We absolutely LOVE Excel Martial Arts. It's like a family. And that’s exactly what they are, family. Can’t say enough good things about this place! From the moment you walk in, you feel the love and admiration the instructors and students have for each other... The instructors are amazing with the students and have a natural connection with each student, and are setting a great example for them. They are all good role models. The instructors want the students to be the best version of themselves! Excel Martial Arts is the place to be! No class is ever boring as its Mix Martial Arts. , It's challenging and exciting, and most importantly, it encourages you to use different parts of your body. Excel Martial Arts gets 5 stars. They are Fantastic with all the kids. They have student leaders who are helpful and when the class is in groups, the ratios are good & maintain good learning experiences.
The student leaders have helped my son in class and demonstrate that hardwork pays off, and not strictly as a black belt. All the instructors are great! I really like that they have fun nights ex: movie night, Halloween party.
The classes are organized and time efficient.
I liked seeing warm up become social ( with partners mirroring eachother).
They also worked with our school as a third party resource!

Excel Martial Arts is an excellent training studio for people of all ages. My son absolutely loves his karate classes. the daycare end of the training studio is first rate with many activities including outdoor time at parks for playtime. The children learn manners respect and a level of discipline that comes with martial arts training. My son has been with Excel Martial Arts for close to three years now. Best place ever.

We absolutely love excel martial arts! Our daughter did the Little Heroes program before starting kindergarten and we now use their before and after school program. My daughter enjoys the program so much that despite being there 5 days a week, she insisted on having her party there too which was an absolute blast! You get a ton of value with both the parties and the programs.

Our kiddo has had some struggles with focus but all the instructors at EMA have a way of getting the kids to engage with them. We’ve noticed a huge improvement in not only her personal discipline, but the way she chooses to treat those around her and her self confidence. The language surrounding bullying and consent with things like being hugged align deeply with our values and I feel grateful to know our daughter has these adults in her life.

While I’m positive every person who works at the gym is incredible, my personal experiences have been with Mr. Baban, Ms. Cordeiro and Mr. Janzen. All three of them are exceptional human beings and their care and concern for the gym, the martial arts and the kiddos is absolutely unquestionably next level. We feel very grateful that we’ve found such a safe environment that we trust and that our daughter enjoys so much. It’s such a huge bonus that she learns self defence, responsibility, respect and self confidence as well. I can’t say enough positive things about our experience at EMA.

My kids have been doing the before and after day care program for 7 years now. They love the crafts and games they play while waiting for pick up.

The MMA program is very good. My kids confidence is amazing with all the forms, weapons and self defence they teach. It’s amazing to see them perform in tournaments, with hundreds of people watching and them focused on their performances and competing in combat.

The social network in the school and all other EMA schools is great to see and all the kids look like they are having a blast. The leaders are all great role models.
